Why Did I Lose Traffic and Rankings on Google & What In The World Is An Algorithm Change?

As a website owner, business owner, or webmaster it is always important to know what is constantly going on with your website and the changes going on within the search engines you are placed in.  Some of the problems many are constantly faced with are loss of traffic, lost rankings, getting black listed, or other penalties.
When something like this happens, it is extremely important to figure out whether you have actually been penalized or if there is something more technical going on with your site. Some ways to figure out what is actually going on are listed below.

  • See if Google has changed how they’re treating your particular space. Be sure to always track not only your own rankings, but those of your competitors as well. Is there something iffy going on? Or is it just you.

  • Data center anomalies: The other obvious one is that rankings can vary depending on location. Be sure to have others check the rankings (from target market region) and cross reference Google referrer traffic in your analytics.

  • Algorithm updates: Such as PandaGooPLA and so on,Remember, recent updates such as the Google Page Layout Algorithm, (GooPLA) are in fact not a penalty. It is more of a filter/dampening factor. This Algorithm change can happen as often as 30 times a month if not more. It’s basically Google adjusting to the way people search the web and what keywords they are actually using.

Now if not faced with an actual Algorithm change, then what can be a cause for penalty? Check out this list below and make sure you aren’t working against the system.

  • Link manipulation: Paid links, hidden, excessive reciprocal, shady links etc.
  • Cloaking: Serving different content to users and Google.
  • Malware: Serving nastiness from your site.
  • Content: Spam/keyword stuffing, hidden text, duplication/scraping.
  • Sneaky JavaScript redirects.
  • Bad neighborhoods: Links, server, TLD.
  • Doorway pages.
  • Automated queries to Google: Tools on your site, probably a bad idea

How can all this be avoided? Hiring an honest SEO company Like E-Driven Concepts to manage all your online websites and rankings can keep you safe from algorithm changes, and properly place you on all major search engines. How DOES Google Make Money?

Google made about $ 37.9 billion in 2011 thanks to travel and tourism, retailers, insurance companies, and many other prominent industries.

About 96% of Google’s annual revenue comes from online advertising. If you have never heard of sponsored links, I’m sure you have seen them. When you perform a search in Google, sponsored links appear on the right side of the screen. These are advertisers that make a business agreement with Google in order to get their ads displayed alongside the results of the most appropriate searches. Google also uses Adwords, a system that allows a potential advertiser to specify the search terms they would like to specify as the words that, when searched, will display their ads. Lastly Google offers a program called AdSense; this is a program where website owners can sign up for ads on a website that is contextually relevant to what they offer and that way the ad owner and site owner all make money.

Google makes money in multiple ways and as a business owner and potential advertiser it is important to know how the thing you are signing up for works. Beware of SEO scams

Beware of SEO Scams! With the benefits that come from great exposure on the world’s largest search engines, there are the threats and fraud issues all businesses deal with today! SEO SCAMS!

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the task of improving the visibility of a web page. With billions of web pages on the Internet today, it takes some creativity and technical know how to make a web page stand out from every other website in your category. Finding a good SEO Web Marketing team like Edriven Concepts that has the creative and technical skills is vital to getting your business the right exposure online. Real Search engine optimization is a highly specialized medium that works to increase the ranking of a web page in a search engine. When executing a search on the web, the search results are usually many pages of possible links. The most popular and relevant web pages are at the very beginning of the search results.  Not all business comes from the first page results, however, it is a mathematical fact that the closer to the top your website is the better chance a web surfer or consumer will click on to it.

SEO requires more than just placing a few key words on your web page or submitting the web page to a search engine for consideration. A company like Edriven Concepts understands that proper SEO work includes an evaluation of your web page, a comparison to similar web pages, unique keyword research, unique content writing, link building to name and site, positive reviews, key word relevant titles and sub titles as well as appropriate graphics and images. To avoid falling into a scam and not only losing money but possibly damaging the reputation of your business and web page by fraudulent SEO activity (black hat), there are a few things to keep in mind.
Educate yourself and become familiar with some SEO terms such as white hat and black hat techniques, algorithms, back links, front links, blogs and key words to name a few. The point is not to know everything there is to know about SEO but enough to know if the SEO Company is legitimate and responsible. If the company representative talks over your head or uses terminology you are not familiar with, ask questions. An honest company will tell you the facts!

Quality SEO takes time!
If the SEO Company promises instant results or a guarantee your web page will be number one in less than a week or two, you are more than likely being SCAMMED. Once they get your money, you can try to file a complaint or request to cancel, and usually not be able to reach a representative from the company again.

Reliable and legitimate SEO work will take time to show results. It may be several months before quality SEO shows results, but the proper work will take time to get through the web crawler system. Instant results will almost always equal scam and spam. Spam is dangerous, fraud that will affect your company’s exposure across the board. BEWARE not to sign up with BLACK HAT SEO SCAMMERS!

If the SEO Company tells you it will take just a few submissions to search engines, do not believe them. Yes, it is possible to submit web pages to search engines for consideration but it will not get you an optimized ranking. These companies are looking for a large up-front fee without providing more than a single landing page or directory listing. What you should be paying for is actual work on your site, quality link building and experienced programmers that understand how to code your site for the best results possible. Remember, “Quality is never an accident it is always a result ….”

EDriven Concepts would like to clear the air about the recent posts people have been seeing about us being a scam on sites such as Prospect Genius. We can assure everyone that we are a legitimate business that does not implement fraudulent activity and we hold a great customer retention percentage.

Regarding the post about EDriven Concepts attempting to defraud Prospect Genius clients we would like to announce that the posts were made in relation to Josh Murlin who was at that time an employee. When we read the post being made about us we had Josh personally call Prospect Genius owner and apologize. Josh Murlin was reprimanded and told this is not how we do business. Since then Josh has left our company and has partnered with another former employee Tri Phan and started a new SEO company called Skyrise Solutions. Josh has now decided to turn his “scam” against us and is now calling all our customers and telling them he is the new Edriven Concepts and getting them to give over credit cards.

Everyone who reads these comments should acknowledge that we are a successful company with few to almost no complaints. We have good reviews from actual customers.  http://www.edrivenconcepts.com/customer-testimonials.
